It must be a week of spring love connections because a few of my clients came in for their airbrush tans the day of or before their first dates with new guys they met.You'll love these stories! Some names have been changed to protect my clients privacy.
Sheila was in front of a red box machine trying to find a movie to rent. This guy came up to it and they exchanged a conversation about movies they saw last week and they got the movies they recommended for each other. As Sheila walked away, the guy asked her for her name. She told him her name and then he said "Enjoy the movie Sheila. Have a good night."
When Sheila watched the movie, she wished she could thank the Red Box guy for such a great recommendation. She decided to get online to Craigslist "missed connection" which she had just learned about a few days ago. She thought about posting it but to her surprise, the first post she saw was, "I should have gotten your number not your name Sheila. I'll have to hope I'll see you again at the red box machine at the King Soopers on Speer."
Sheila couldn't believe what she read and she emailed him. They emailed volleyed for about 45 minutes when they decided to talk on the phone instead. Their first date is tonight which is why she had to see me for her airbrush spray tan. You are always more confident and feel better tan! Can't wait to hear the results next week when Sheila returns for her weekly airbrush tan.
Lesson to self: This guy just got lucky. The window of opportunity could only be a few minutes and if you don't seize it, it could be a missed connection! Be courageous and bold.
Kelly found a dog on the street. She called the number on the collar and arranged to meet with the guy who owned the dog. Kelly called her sister to tell her she was going to be late because she was waiting to return this dog. Her sister was enthusiastic for her and said "maybe he's cute and single." Kelly responded with "I doubt it knowing my luck."
To Kelly's surprise he was really cute and nice! They talked for about 30 minutes and he asked her out, using the dog as leverage for a thank you dinner. No missed connection here! We will have to wait about 2 weeks for the answer to this date. Kelly has the date tomorrow and then headed to Mexico for a wedding, hence why she needed to get her airbrush spray tanned!
Lesson: Go steal a dog girls! j/k
The winner love connection story for this week goes to my little brother Tan - no tanning involved in this story, just that his name is really Tan. =)
It is Tan's senior year in high school and it is prom time. Tan heard this girl name Megan likes him. He decided to ask her to prom but she replied that he is too short. She crushed him and he was bummed for a few days. She could have just said no because it really made him sad. He decided to get back on the horse again and wanted to ask Bianca. Tan helps Bianca with her math and they have many mutual friends.
Tan's friends challenged him to ask her over the school's broadcast media system! He is somewhat of a popular kid in school and also loves to makes videos, hence he is has no problem making video appearances and getting into the school's media room. His broadcast was live! Bianca missed it because at that very same moment, she went to the library. Her friends told her about it. She responded to Tan by making a video to say "YES!" and posted it on his facebook. We won't really know the outcome of this story til April 14, prom night!
Lesson: You may be rejected the first time, but something better may be right around the corner with the next one. Girls be gentle to the fellas when they ask you out, it's not easy for them.

I'm shaving my head and need your help...
What a bizarre week! I'd like to blame it on the moon but I really can't...there has been some re-occuring themes, which for me means slow down, be present, and pay attention to who and what shows up in your life! Perhaps these themes are showing up in your life too?
The church I go to started an 8 week series called re-up, re-build. The main nugget I got: you get your vision then you make your decision. This hits home for me as I've been meditating on what I want to create next in my life and how. You must have a vision and the point of power is in the DECISION. You make your decisions and your decisions will make you. I hope my TRUE story helps you with your visions and decisions.
March 9 will mark 3 years in Denver for me. They have been 3 years of HUGE growth and surrender. When I arrived I said I would rebuild my world here and I could be anyone I wanted to be because no one knew me here. I didn't know who I was or what I wanted to do, only ideas of who I wanted to become.
I bargained with God and promised I would do anything he sent my way, just guide me to the right people, places, and answers. I was lucky enough to meet one of my soul sisters and she let me rent a room in her home. Her home was in Cherry Creek Country Club, a beautiful 8000 sq ft home on the golf course! We moved out a few months later because she sold it.
A few months after I started my business, I had a tanning party schedule in Cherry Creek Country Club. Seriously, what are the chances that I have a random tanning party in the house I lived in when I first moved here?! I walk in and introduce myself to the new owner of the house and said "you're not gonna believe this but I use to live in this house a year ago." I told her the story and of course she loves it! She tells me "well then you know exactly where to set up downstairs."
This house is symbolic for me. It reminds me where I've been, the growth I've had, and that YOU CAN create ANY life you want at any time. You have to get the vision and then you make your decisions, sometimes with a leap of faith.
As I pulled up to it again on Thursday, I told God that I would surrender again to anything he presented, especially in the next 90 days if I could make room for 3 things this year: to fall in love again, to be cash positive, and to contribute more to charity. She laughed at me and replied, I hope you mean that!
On Friday, the owner of Asteria told me she is going to shave her head for St. Balderwick, a non-profit organization to help kids with cancer. She asked if I wanted to donate or partake in it. This voice inside me laughed and said I hope you meant what you said yesterday!
I'm going to be SHAVING my hair off March 15 IF I raise $3000 for this organization. If I do not raise $3000, I will shave Cosmo!
There was a song that sang in my head when I committed to this, it's by Indie Arie called "I am not my hair." The best lines in the song are "I am not my hair, I am not my skin, I am the soul from within." and "Success didasteria profile pic with Cosmon't come until I shaved it all off." Ironic and symbolic...be careful when you strike a bargain with God because she is hilarious!

Shift Happens
I was cleansing my computer documents and stumbled on these notes when I read Robert Holden's book Happiness NOW. Sometimes when you go through things the second time around, you understand it more and see things for the 1st time. These notes are beautiful and transformative if you want to shift 1 degree to 212.

To remain true to your Unconditional Self, you must distinguish between experiences and identity. Can you see the difference between saying “I experienced failure” and “I am failure”? “I made a mistake” and “I am stupid”? “I am with fear” instead of “I am afraid”. You are not your suffering. They are thoughts you identify with, but they are not you. It is your attachment to these thoughts that causes pain. Give up the attachment and you are free.

There is no separation
Separation is the great illusion, great disease of mankind, hell, violent, like a cancer, root of disease and pain. Healing begins with dropping your defenses, giving up your secrets, reaching out, asking for help, receiving, letting others in, being intimate, and joining. If you are interested in having more energy, more inspiration, more creativity, more grace, more peace, more aliveness, and more joy, all you have to do is give up the illusion of separatness. Begin each day with: Dear God, today I give up the thought of separation. Amen”
God does not believe in atheists!
“What a pity it is we made a religion out of God. God is much bigger than religion. God cannot be bottled, labeled and sold.” There is a level of your mind which is all about God-whether you are religious or not. Whenever you clear your stuff about God, your life shifts. Life gets easier. To be happy you do not have to be religious about God, but you do have to be unafraid of God. At the deepest level, being at odds with God is also being at odds with yourself. Let God be immeasurable love, an infinite intelligence, unconditional peace, the creative impulse that supports the highest in everyone. If your God is not a God of love, get another God! What you want is a God that is bigger than your fear, your anger, your guilt, your ego, yourself. Let go, therefore, of your own ideas about God, and let God teach you about God.

All your suffering is rooted in a single superstition which is that you believe you live in a world when the truth is the world lives in you. The world changes when you do.

Are you meeting the right "Kat"?
This last week was my "Pause for Cause" week. The last 2 months have been somewhat of a whirlwind for me and almost everyone around me in regards to business/life. The more I interacted with people, the more I heard "It's been busy, I'm busy, perhaps when things slow down.." I really hate being BUSY, I really strive moreso to be PRESENT & PRODUCTIVE. There is a HUGE difference!
I realized I wasn't being as PRESENT or PRODUCTIVE a couple of weeks ago when I met the wrong KAT. Perhaps you can identify with this story or get a little chuckle from it. My friend Angie told me I had to met her friend Kat who was moving to Denver from Naples. Kat and I corresponded over facebook a few times and I was really excited to meet her. The week she got to Denver I was in Springfield. I wrote I would call her in the afternoon and also gave her my number. That afternoon I received a phone call and she said her name was Kat.
We arranged to met that Thursday when I was back in town. As you know, the first day back from any trip is busy with lots of catch up work and what not. I really wanted to postpone the meeting but I hate CANCELING! The Kat that showed up for coffee wasn't the Kat I was expecting! The Kat that showed up was a random lady I met at a networking meeting a month prior...no wonder the phone conversation didn't make sense! Seriously, what are the chances and how many people do you know name Kat? Had I been PRESENT, I would have put the puzzle pieces together. At that moment I laughed at myself and realized I had to slow down, be more conscious, and LISTEN more than I talk! =)
This week's focus was to "pause for a cause" which is to connect with people and things I've been putting off because I was "too busy!" When I do this, I re-visit my 5 Wishes. I read this book the beginning of this year and it really help me prioritize my actions to live a life with more purpose and happiness. This book asks you if you were on your deathbed now or 50 years from now, is your life a complete success? If so, why or why not?
When I did this and really examined what fulfilled me, the actions and opportunities appeared and became more clear. You can go online to the site and do the worksheet, it should take only 10 minutes. Don't think about it too much because you will kill the creativity and then you will never do it. You can always revise it later. I guarantee you that if you do it, you will shift in someway within 2 months to start something you've been putting off. You make your decisions and then your decisions make you!
Can you believe half the year has flown by? Are you still where you were at the beginning of the year? How would you like to live out the rest of 2011?
The time to decide is NOW. Once you decide, the future becomes more clear. Your decisions will make you once you decide. The best example of this I can think of is from the movie Twilight (I admit I love the series!). There is a character name Alice who can see the future, but there is a catch: she only sees the future when someone makes a decision! In the REAL world, it is
the same, you will see your future when you decide
and providence moves.
Once you DECIDE, your questions on who, what, when, why, and how will appear. It is then your job to walk through the door presented to you. Making decisions can be stressful. You don't want to make a mistake, you are afraid of what others think, you don't want to lose money, you don't want to look stupid...the banter in your head goes on and on...then you procastinate...then you may even do some sub-conscious self sabotage...
Relax and just BREATHE. Truth is no one knows the right answers. Always consider the SOURCE you are seeking for counsel; have they achieved the success you would like? Know that nothing is forever and you can always go back. Know what you would like to create, even if it's a dream.
Whatever you do, DECIDE on the following things:
Decide NOW to be HAPPY
Happiness begins with you. All we have is this present moment. "Yesterday is gone, Tomorrow is a mystery, and that is why TODAY is the PRESENT."
Decide NOW to end struggling
Your thoughts become things so choose the good ones. Struggling is normally due to the 3 J's: jealousy, justification, and judgement. Who could you be if you released these thoughts?
Love your body and who you are NOW
I see so many people of all shapes and sizes in their most vulnerable states. You all are so imperfectly perfect. You only have one body, nuture it and it will take you where you want to go mentally, physically, and spiritually. Without your health you really have nothing. Be kind to yourself.
When you decide, the answers appear, grace grows in between the gaps, opportunities show up in rare foams and you are blessed with more COURAGE you didn't know you had.
My intention is for this to help you make DECISIONS for a wonderful summer ahead!

Red dress/black dress girl
The Red Dress/Black Dress Girl
My beautiful friend Heidi had this theory about the red dress and black dress girl. The red dress girl is the sexy and seductive one while the black dress girl is the conservative and proper one. I know there are lots of sexy black dresses. I think you can be both the red and black dress girl at different times, but for the sake of the theory, you get the gist.
Heidi says men always dream about the red dress girl and may date or hook up with the red dress girl, but they always marry the black dress girl. Heidi considered herself at the time to be a red dress girl but wanted to be the black dress girl. I remember I didn’t want to be a black or red dress girl. I wanted to be the silver or pink dress girl…
I recently started dating this guy and currently he’s on my turd list. At times like this, I fall back to an old pattern of looking for options and moving in a space of ego, survival, defensiveness, and protectiveness. I go into game playing and go “fishing.” It’s quite neurotic. I act in this “trying to win” mentality. I definitely go into red dress girl mode. I can be so good at being bad!
It’s about finding a balance. The red dress doesn’t totally suite me even though I do love red. Can I be a red dress girl with black stripes or polka dots? Are you a red dress or black dress girl?

212 Degree Year
With the start of the new year most make resolutions/goals. This year I'm implantmenting something different, I'm going to live by a number: 212. What does this number signify you might ask?
When I attended the Miss Colorado pagent to watch a client/friend compete, the reigning Miss Colorado made an incredible speech regarding this number. She said her year was lived by this number. The boiling point of water is 212 degrees Fahrenheit. At 211 degrees water is very hot, but at 212 degrees water changes to STEAM. At 212 degrees, water is TRANSFORMED. The difference of 1 degree, one SMALL degree.
What if life was the same? How would your life be if you shifted just one degree? Think about all the justification and excuses we use. What if you released them and just DO it!? What would your life be like without FEAR? Is this the difference between good and GREAT?
