The Red Dress/Black Dress Girl
My beautiful friend Heidi had this theory about the red dress and black dress girl. The red dress girl is the sexy and seductive one while the black dress girl is the conservative and proper one. I know there are lots of sexy black dresses. I think you can be both the red and black dress girl at different times, but for the sake of the theory, you get the gist.

Heidi says men always dream about the red dress girl and may date or hook up with the red dress girl, but they always marry the black dress girl. Heidi considered herself at the time to be a red dress girl but wanted to be the black dress girl. I remember I didn’t want to be a black or red dress girl. I wanted to be the silver or pink dress girl…

I recently started dating this guy and currently he’s on my turd list. At times like this, I fall back to an old pattern of looking for options and moving in a space of ego, survival, defensiveness, and protectiveness. I go into game playing and go “fishing.” It’s quite neurotic. I act in this “trying to win” mentality. I definitely go into red dress girl mode. I can be so good at being bad!

It’s about finding a balance. The red dress doesn’t totally suite me even though I do love red. Can I be a red dress girl with black stripes or polka dots? Are you a red dress or black dress girl?
